Every true leader can be qualified as crafts-person because of the ability to find solutions to challenges. Like leaders, craftspeople like to get things done. Although, every human or crafts-person cannot be called a true leader, but every true leader is a crafts-person.
It is an innate characteristic for every leader to aim for the best, leaving a mile marker on every achievement and making history in the process. The journey to these achievements might be tortuous, so they end up inviting others to achieve a set goal and often teach their skills to those who share their ideals with the aim of developing like minds. Great leaders are known to be great teachers, gifted at asking “catalytic” questions, which spur their teams to move forward in creative ways.
Preparing for the right time to strike or begin a project is key to success. Abraham Lincoln once said, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe”. We are often ill prepared when the right moment comes, resulting in a loss of a golden moment or our chance to make history in our endeavours.
Leaders believe great opportunities are created, and will not come on a platter of gold. They establish the right environment for their ideas to thrive in all circumstances and not necessarily wait for the right moment, which might never come. They seize the moment, and effectively utilize their resources to achieve maximum output.
If you are still doubting or do not have a clear picture of your purpose in life, take time to figure it out but begin by pursuing those skills that will be needed to achieve that purpose.
