The FIRE Africa Awards is acknowledging innovative initiatives in Africa that have contributed through the use of information and communications technologies, and have positively impacted social and economic development in the region. The selected winners will receive a cash prize of $3,000, expense paid travel and accommodation to attend the awards ceremony, and participate in sessions which will be held in Mexico during the 2016 Internet Governance Form.
Participants initiatives must meet three main requirements:
- Project proposals must have a technological component through which they seek to solve development issues.
- Proposed solutions must present new strategies, notions, ideas, methods and processes that respond to social needs and can strengthens and broaden communities.
- There must be proven impact for successful initiatives i.e, evidence and indicators that support the creation of value for the target communities must be submitted.
