Africa Startup Ecosystem has announced the First Africa Digital Accelerator. The program aims to help 100 companies accelerate to market each year. The 2-day accelerator program is open to all small businesses, startups, freelancers connected to Africa. 10 companies would then be selected from the top 100 applicants; and these 10 get to pitch to investors on demo day. The top 3 will be announced the next day and they will proceed to get capital investment with the investor network.
The program has several components:
1. Startup Development: First is the accelerator program that includes intense startup development training followed by an online demo day for the top ten companies to pitch investors, press and global accelerator directors.
2. Mentorship: Once companies complete the program, they are given access to monthly startup development training with mentorship from successful entrepreneurs.
3. Progress & Investment: Startups are given an opportunity to submit updates on their companies twice a year and pitch to investors for capital.
