The application for 2018 Village Capital Fintech Africa Programme in partnership with PayPal has been opened. The programme is aimed at supporting African startups focused on health, agriculture, energy, and education.
Selected startups will work through a specific curriculum over a three-month period during which time they will have the chance to interact with potential customers, strategic partners, mentors, investors, sector experts, and PayPal employees.
At the end of the program, Village Capital will offer the top two startups $50,000 investments.
Eligible Enterprises
Village Capital seeks startups in Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania that:
- Address financial health concerns including insuretech, pensions and savings, cooperative finance, and financial literacy;
- Leverage data for alternative means of credit scoring, identity verification and protection and consumer insights;
- Integrate financial health services with other mobile services including social media, gaming and online commerce;
- Apply fin-tech solutions to drive innovation and business model improvement in agriculture, energy, education and health.
